Common types of valves used in water conservancy projects and their functions

In water conservancy projects, there are numerous types of valves, each tailored to specific application scenarios and advantages. Next, we will outline several valves commonly used in water conservancy projects and their basic characteristics:

Ball valve

Its closure element is a ball, which can rotate 90° around the valve axis when driven by the valve stem, thereby enabling the opening or closing of the medium. In water conservancy projects, ball valves are often used to control the flow direction of the medium, such as cutting off, distributing, and changing the flow path. With its excellent sealing performance, convenient operation, and rapid opening and closing capabilities, it has become a key component in water conservancy projects.

Gate valve

Its closure element is a gate plate, and the movement direction is perpendicular to the flow direction. This design makes gate valves particularly suitable for cutting off the medium in water conservancy projects, and the medium can flow freely in both directions. It is easy to install, intuitive to operate, has a smooth channel, and low flow resistance, and its structure is also quite simple.

Butterfly valve

Its closure element is a butterfly plate, and it achieves opening and closing or regulation by rotating 90° in the valve body. In water conservancy projects, butterfly valves are also widely used for cutting off the medium, and due to its compact structure, flexible operation, rapid opening and closing, and lightweight size, it is highly favored.

Check valve

Its working principle is based on the medium's own flow, using an automatically opening and closing valve disc to prevent reverse flow of the medium. In water conservancy projects, check valves play a crucial role, such as protecting pumps and drive electric motors from reverse rotation and preventing the release of container medium.

Regulating valve

It occupies an important position in the industrial automation field. It receives control signals and uses power operation to adjust parameters such as medium flow and pressure. In water conservancy projects, regulating valves are used for precise control of medium flow and pressure.

In addition, various other valves may be used in water conservancy projects, such as stop valves and safety valves. These valves have unique structures and functions, collectively forming a complex and comprehensive valve system. When choosing, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as specific application scenarios, medium characteristics, working pressure and temperature, etc.
